HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert at Belper(June 02, 2012)
BelCanto was very thrilled to take part in this great event to celebrate Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne. The Concert was held at the beautifully refurbished St. Peter's Church, Belper. Church Organist, Rodney Tomkins opened the evening with three organ solos, followed by a selection of music from the 40-strong Belper Wind Band. BelCanto then rounded off the first half of the programme, under their stand-in Musical Director, Hilary Griffiths and accompanist Sian Mosley. The second half began with David Redfern (Organ) followed again by the Belper Wind Band. BelCanto performed again, followed by a solo by Adrian Griffiths (accompanied by Hilary). The entire caste and Lynn Riley (Soprano) concluded the evening with the usual songs from the Last Night of the Proms.
A most enjoyable experience for all and with BelCanto receiving the loudest applause of the evening. Well done to everyone, especially to Hilary after only two rehearsals with us.
Organiser of the evening, Tracy Drake wrote afterwards, "Thanks very much. It was indeed a great evening and thanks very much for your contribution it was really great".
