BelCanto shivers into 2011 programme(January 23, 2011)
On Saturday, 22 January BelCanto performed at St. Osmund’s Church, Wilmorton, Derby. It was a bitterly cold evening and the interior of the church was only slightly warmer. However, the group, under the direction of Musical Director, Andrew White and accompanied on the keyboard by Sian Mosley, gave of their best with a varied programme of music and mirth. The wonderful acoustic found in St. Osmund’s almost made up for the suffering of the choir in the cold, never more so than during the singing of Schubert’s "Sanctus", when the beautiful tones of the piece echoed back to us from the rafters. Our ‘new’ numbers also seemed to be well received and appreciated. Our resident comic, Neil almost had the audience attaining a state of spiritual enlightenment with his lessons in ‘Zen’ wisdom and our two monologists, Frank and Craig also served up hearty helpings of humour. It was good to hear such "warm" applause and comments at the conclusion of the concert.
Our next engagement is at All Saints Church, Stanley Common at 7.30pm on Friday, 11 February 2011. Why don’t you come along and enjoy a pleasant evening of harmony and humour?
